The VS1 technology is well suited to accommodate the high wind loads standard at airports and has passed the ASTM E 1886/1996 certification test for small and large missile impact. VS1 is an ideal choice to acoustically isolate terminals from the sound of airplanes taking off and landings, allowing for less sound transmission than conventional façade systems.
The first castellated aluminum mullion offered in the world is being used in the George Bush Intercontinental Airport Terminal B Redevelopment. An expansion at the international terminal of the same airport created a grand entrance featuring a 40-foot structural clear span with no intermediary support.
Once completed, the Mobile International Airport will feature 35,000 sq. ft. of VS1.
VS1 is utilized for roughly 40,000 square feet of facade in O’Hare International Airport Terminal 5 Expansion and Renovation.
At Fort Wayne airport, VS1 incorporated a feature wall with a 10-degree outward slant over a 29′ span.
